Five Red Grain Sheds

These old grain sheds can be seen on the way to the Leighton Art Centre. Everyone who has traveled there are sure to pass them along the way. I have seen them painted by other artists with many painting them in their own interpretation. I found them to be kind of quirky and funny looking but an interesting subject to paint.  Not one of them are standing very straight and all are weather-beaten. They seem to be everywhere around the province and some are no longer in use, standing in the fields like little monuments. These appear to be in fairly good condition though.

Enjoy!

Love the side vieww! Sadly these sheds have been torn down so you now have a piece of history in your painting. These stories conjure up so many stories.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for your comment and the update regarding these grain sheds. Admittedly,I haven't been along the road to view them since early last year, so I'm a little surprised they are gone. A piece of history yes! Many local artists have painted these and it would be interesting to see them all. Maybe one day they will be displayed somewhere.
